We are a local family with deep roots in region, both of us being bought up on farms. We first visited the Captains Flat hotel in 2020, and although it was clear that it was run down, we could see its potential as a new style of hotel offering more than just beer and rooms but also a traditional country experience. When the hotel came on the market in late 2021, we made a successful bid to buy it. The following 15 months were tough, as we found lots of things needing repair that weren't obvious at the initial inspection. But we came through, and managed the opening of the hotel for the "Back-to-the-Flat" event on the 4th of March 2023.
We look forward to showing you round the hotel and maybe discussing the challenges of its repair and restoration over an ice-cold beer in front of a warm winter fire!
